Al Jazeera has said Israeli forces committed a “blatant murder” of its correspondent Shireen Abu Akleh, who was killed during the Israeli raid of a refugee camp in Jenin on Wednesday morning.

“In a blatant murder, violating international laws and norms, the Israeli occupation forces assassinated in cold blood Al Jazeera‘s correspondent in Palestine, Shireen Abu Akleh, targeting her with live fire early this morning,” the network said, adding Abu Akleh was “conducting her journalistic duty” and “clearly wearing a press jacket that identifies her a journalist.”

Al Jazeera said producer Ali Al-Samudi is being treated for gunshot wounds in the back sustained in the same incident. The network further pledged to “prosecute the perpetrators legally, no matter how hard they try to cover up their crime, and bring them to justice.”

This is a breaking story.
